The spreader of malicious programs continue to target the Mac operating system that for years considered 'immune' virus.
Developer antivirus software, Sophos, revealed that the virus is now beginning to haunt the Mac users. Sophos recently released a Sophos AntiVirus for Mac Home Edition has found a number of reports about the emergence of the virus on a Mac computer.
So far, Sophos said it has 150,000 users and nearly 50,000 Mac users have reported that they had found malware on their computers.
"Users should be concerned about what might be lurking on their hard drive," writes Sophos as reported by Neowin, Wednesday (11/24/2010).
A number of viruses detected among Sophos Mal / ASFDldr-A. These programs are generally detected in Windows-based computers. Mal / ASDFDldr-A attack via Windows Media Player.
In addition, a number of other malicious programs are malware OSX / Jahlav-C and OSX / DNSCha-E. OSX / Jahlav-C is a variant of OSX / DNSCha-E, which happens to be a part of the malware that is known as a converter control.
